Corruption, Two Chinese Officials Executed


China executed two ex deputy mayor, on Tuesday (07/19/2011), for accepting a bribe in the amount of millions dollars.Similarly, the country's official news agency, Xinhua. Both former officials, and Jiang Xu Maiyong Renjie, previously worked in the prosperous cities in the east coast of China which is rapidly growing.

Xinhua, quoting the Supreme People's Court, reported two men were executed on Tuesday morning. Xu, 52, is a former vice mayor of Hangzhou and sentenced to death last May. He reportedly accepted bribes worth 198 million yuan and embezzlement is also abuse of power. "Xu has used the power to intervene in contracts and projects to help companies and person to acquire land, promotion, and tax reductions," Xinhua reported.Xu known for his luxurious lifestyle. Chinese media reports, investigators found the gold bars and expensive jewelry at home. The number of his mistress also reported there are dozens of people.

Meanwhile Jiang, 62, is a former vice mayor of Suzhou. He was sentenced to death in 2008 for taking bribes of more than 108 million yuanAccording to previous media reports, two men are members of the Communist Party. Based on polls, corruption by state officials is a source of public discontent in China. Therefore, in a speech earlier this month when it marks the 90th anniversary of the ruling Communist Party, Chinese President Hu Jintao said the fight against corruption is the key to "winning or losing in gaining public support as well as life or death of the party".
